The 2021 Afrika Fashion League, fashion design contest popularly dubbed as the ‘90 Minutes
Challenge’ is set to hold on Saturday 20th of November 2021 in the Lagos, the commercial capital
of Nigeria.

The 2021 ’90 Minutes Challenge’ had loads of entries from interested participants across different
states in Nigeria. Interested participants were tasked to send in photographs of some of their work
samples for assessment by a panel of jury. Selected finalists will be challenged to work with limited
resources and time in producing bespoke fashion outfits.

A total of ten (10) finalists have been selected after a painstaking process of selection by the panel of
jury led by Kola Kuddus, the President of Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN).
Other members of panel are Mrs. Olusola Babatunde, Creative Director OSC Career Institute and
Mrs. Tabernacle Emmanuel, Creative Director Tabbykraft Stitches.

The ten (10) finalists selected
will be tasked in 90 minutes to conceptualize, cut and sew a fashion outfit in line with the agreed
fashion theme for this year.
Kola Kuddus in his reaction stated that “we are in search of young and enterprising fashion-
inclined minds that can un-learn rules or myths and adopt new fashion orientation.

The Founder Afrika Fashion League, Adebayo Ilupeju, in his address stated that
the 90 minutes Challenge was created primarily as an initiative to empower and help support
young and upcoming industry players in the fashion industry. The Afrika Fashion League with
the support of our many supporters and partners is aiming to enhance the industry productivity
through skills and tools acquisition. This project will evolve to be more inclusive of the other arms
of fashion in the coming years.

#AFL90MinutesChallenge is an empowerment project aimed at combating socio-economic challenges facing
up and coming fashion industry players.
The 2021 finalists that have been selected are: Gbadegesin Iyanuoluwa, Dagunduro Oluwadamilola,
Bukola Lydia Emeka, Adetiloye Olabisi, Wendy Anita Ubochi, Divine Obasi, Abigail Walter, Esther
Sunday, Margret Friday, Halimat Ikotun and Mojisola Lasisi.
