Women must occupy their place in their chosen endeavour so that the society can experience an inclusive and holistic development

Omobolanle Adedeji of Whoopy Yun Limited, the Team Leader of the African Fashion Development and Empowerment Centre (AFDEC), Oyo State chapter, has advised fashion entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the fashion industry to see the industry as a career that has the potential to drive economic growth and development in Africa.

She stated this while speaking at the 2023 awards and inauguration of new executives of AFDEC, Oyo State at the Bunkers, MKO Abiola Way, Off Ring Road, Ibadan.

She charged members of the organisation to strive and distinguish themselves in the industry, while commending AFDEC members for their tenacity and commitment to driving entrepreneurship and rewriting the narrative for women empowerment in the country.

“Women must occupy their place in their chosen endeavour so that the society can experience an inclusive and holistic development,” she said.

The new team leader also affirmed that the responsibility of leadership is coming at a peculiar period in the country and stressed the importance of prioritizing the impact of the fashion industry on the nation’s economy.

Adedeji maintained that, “Fashion is a career that must be properly presented to attract the interest of the younger generation through mentorship and reorientation.”
