Nigeria can earn trillions of naira if we will just follow simple rules of the business- Tessy Jibodu, President WAFC Nigeria has said.
She mentioned the potential earning while addressing members of press recently while highlighting the take aways from the inaugural meeting of the body. Recall that the Nigeria chapter of West Africa Fashion Council (WAFC) was officially inaugurated at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja G.R.A Lagos on Wednesday (27, April 2022).
The inaugural meeting was well attended by the fashion industry value chain stakeholders, including a member of the West Africa Fashion Council main body; Mrs. Evelyn Okere, who is also the Chairperson BOT WAFC Nigeria.
WAFC Nigeria was created to be the voice of the organized fashion ecosystem in Nigeria functioning as the go to place for manufacturers, suppliers, designers and consumers to access genuine information on industry best practice.
The non-for-profit organization will also harness the cultural and creative power of the Nigerian fashion industry and its value chain, its knowledge, resources through advocacy and promotion that showcases domestic, regional and export markets while positively growing the industry towards sustainability and a place in the global fashion economy.
“WAFC aims to strategically reinforce Nigerian fashion through West Africa and position it in the global fashion economy”, the Chairperson BOT said.
The President, Mrs. Tessy Jibodu, while addressing members and guests; congratulated stakeholders and charged them to prepare for the journey ahead.
“We shall be working together to structure the fashion industry appropriately and eventually take it to the next level”, she added.
The event had in attendance the Chairperson Board of Trustees of West Africa Fashion Council, Mrs. Evelyn Okere; the President, Mrs.Tessy Jibodu; Vice President, Prince Elvis Esharegharan; the National Secretary, Mrs. Temitope Olanre-Alade; other members of the executives and cluster heads from the various sectors in the fashion value chain.
“It is definitely going to be a whole new ball game when WAFC Nigeria releases her array of activities that will bring the much-expected paradigm shift in the business of fashion and the well being of stakeholders”, the National Secretary, Olanre-Alade quipped.
Mrs. Jibodu said it only takes the cooperation of all fashion industry stakeholders to bring about a positive change, global acceptance and the corresponding economic benefit that Nigeria and Africa have been missing over the years.
