Director and executive producer at Artemis Media and founder of a leading Kenyan fashion consultancy, Diana Opoti, captured the world’s attention when she started the digital campaign, dubbed 100 Days of African Fashion.
Opoti is more than a fashion enthusiast. She’s a true champion of the Africa’s fashion, and one of the most formidable fashion connectors regionally. The second season of the campaign, which was expected to come to a close yesterday, featured unique items styled by her.
All the pieces were by African designers, or brands made on the continent, by Africans living globally or specific lines inspired by Africa.
Speaking to Spice, the fashion icon had this to say.
“The second edition has been good. There has been retail opportunity for designs, since women can see how designer clothes fit on real women, thus are willing to purchase them. It was also an opportunity to gauge the demands of products, what people want to wear currently in the local market.
“A third season of the campaign is in the works. At the moment though, I have added an additional 10 days to the second edition. I have received a couple of pieces from other local designers that I wish to share. I am also planning on hosting two editions: A summer edition to showcase what to wear while on holiday and a safari edition showcasing what to wear while in the wild.”
